Deep in the forests of Adilabad, grows a tree that the indigenous communities have revered for centuries — the Mahua tree (Madhuca longifolia). Its flowers, known as Ippa Puvvu in Telugu, are a seasonal forest blessing that bloom briefly but leave a lasting impact.

For generations, the tribal women of Adilabad have known that Mahua flowers are not just food — they are medicine, sustenance, and culture woven into one. Handpicked from the forest floor at dawn, sun-dried, and transformed into laddus using jaggery, nuts, and seeds — this is the food that sustained entire communities through harsh seasons.

Bheembai Adivasi Mahila Sahakara Sangam is a collective of tribal women from Adilabad who are keeping this tradition alive. Vanam Sweets was born from a desire to bring their handcrafted wisdom to every home in India — and beyond.

When PM Narendra Modi mentioned Mahua Laddu in his Mann Ki Baat broadcast on 30 March 2025, India discovered what Adilabad has always known: that the most powerful nutrition often comes from the humblest forest floors.
